Looking for a ball park figure for 200 x 50 + 5ft overhang,
galv frame wood purlins, tin or asbestos roof , erected

Good local supplier and erector between you and me. I find him first class but you have to book him in advance as he is always busy.
He's done 3 jobs for me and is currently finishing off another for my cousin.
He's also good at laying concrete
I'm sure you know who I mean.

Yea, just wanted to get some ball park figures before getting excited.
As you seen we need some more room, hoping the work about to start might contribute a bit towards it;);)

Getting the right price!

Wondered why prices for sheds vary so much? One reason for this is that steel portal frames are designed for in the main two criteria. The first is for strength and in very general terms this means that it should not collapse. The other is deflection which is partly related to how the building will bend and sway as this impacts on the performance of windows, doors, cladding etc.

When tendering a building consider specifying to the supplier what the deflection limits are. One way of doing this is to specify the Steel Construction Insitute (SCI) recommended limits or to get the first contractor to tell you what the limits are, then check!

Also, ask the contractor to give you not just the section depth and width but the weight per meter. This should include not just the rafters, columns and wind posts but also the bracing sizes and weights. Finally, tie this all up by asking them to state the complete tonnage as this will include the plates and fittings.

Now you will be in a much better position to compare like with like!
