New shed roof pitch

Currently getting quotes for a new 175ft x 80ft building 20ft to eaves but I am unsure what roof pitch to specify.

Is there a standard pitch for a fibre cement roof? What are the pros and cons of altering the roof pitch (apart from ridge height)? Would it change the price of the building?

I have specified a 20 degree pitch as I am thinking of putting some pv panels on the roof and I am told this is the optimum pitch for them however I think Western Power are going to want too much to upgrade my power supply which will make the pv project unaffordable.

If the pv project doesn't go ahead I am keen to keep the ridge as low as possible to reduce the visual impact.

Cheers

15deg is standard and the next standard is 22.5deg for fibre cement as the ridge cappings come pre-curved at this angle. 20deg is not an issue as you can get a 2 piece ridge capping to cover this. The ridge will be 1100mm higher on a 15deg pitch opposed to a 20.

A steeper pitch will add some, but not a huge amount extra to the price.

If you are thinking of PV go for a steel roof.
It is far cheaper to mount the panels on
30 is actually closer to the ideal for the panels, but it would be more important to make sure the building runs east West so you have a good south facing roof

Have you been quoted for the DNO costs
Have you got 3 phase?

Have 17deg on my main cow building,15 isn't bad to work with at least you can put things down on it without them firing off.

Thanks for your replies guys.

The building is grain store and general storage.

Close to sea so prefer fibre cement to tin.

South facing roof, waiting for quote from dno to install 3 phase.

Sounds like 22.5 if I go for pv or 15 if I don't?

I think you should go steeper. You might put a conveyer belt in some time for filling the grain. What is the angle for a pile of dried grain. If you work it out right you could fill to the eaves with grain.
I seen one done like that last year in wexford,
Go another 5ft high and your store will be 25% bigger for modest money.
