Currently run a 4.2 Land Cruiser Amazon now 10 x years and 140k.
This is my 5th one over the years so I must like them.
Because of the emissions carry on around London I will in the not too distant future be unable to use it within the North & South Circular & possibly within the M25 if mayor Khan has his way.
I am already paying a toxicity charge alongside the congestion charge.
Have been looking for a suitable replacement.
Considered last of the newer 4.5 v8 Land Cruisers but they were discontinued 2015 and are only Euro 5.
Have been looking at the 3.2 SG5 LWB Shogun as a possibility.
They are auto, spec is good and will tow 3.5t.
Seem very well priced and if you go for a nearly new almost a bargain compared to some.
Any one got one and care to give a view?
Anyone tried one and walked away?
Any known problems / things to avoid?
Thanks in advance for any advice given.

Had a look very recently and yes they are good but they drive like an L200 of which we have one with the same gearbox but admittedly slightly smaller engine unit. I think you will be disappointed after a few weeks of use.

I tried one and it ticked all the boxes except it sounded like a tractor compared to my Disco 3. Still wonder if I could put up with the loud engine as they are nearly 20k cheaper than the equivalent disco and wouldn't mind betting that they are a lot more reliable.

i was warned parts are literary intergalactic, wing mirror £500 headlamp £800, i was told this by a garage who used to run one but moved to a disco! not literally checked my self but i do know there not alot of spurious parts around if you go for a popular brand like landrover most stuff available from none dealer sources.

I had one for a it and bit (not the newest was 2012)was nice but i do feel the disco is in a different league but i suppose you pay for it.

Best to go have a look/drive see what you think.

On the reliability tables, the Discovery is rated about average, where as the Shogun is one of the most reliable going.
As with any complex mechanical device, stuff can still go wrong, even to the best of them. My relations had to spend £7k on gearbox surgery on their out of warranty Shogun.
Crap just happens sometimes.

Current shogun stopped production. Shame really.

Was not aware that current shogun had ceased production, but a replacement is long overdue. Been a huge fan of them over the years, had 4 in total.

Think i seen a comment by a Mitsubishi boss somewhere, where it was stated that investment in a new model was hard to justify given the relativly low numbers sold worldwide.

Only real option these days . Until things changed with me that I was about to do ! 25-32k depending on spec .

I only had manuals, all were great trucks. The current 5 speed auto is horrid in my opinion, hence why i have moved away from them. They stopped building new manual commercials around 3 years ago.

Is this basically the reason the likes of the Shogun. Trouper. Fortrack. Defender . Low cost Disco are not produced any more

Im not sure its general knowledge? Living near uk colt head quaters helps.

Would not surprise me at all, feels dated compared to the competition now.

Makes sence with the new sport about to launch, move on current shogun stocks before the new sport hits the showrooms.

Althought the sport is not strictly a shogun as its based on the l200 platform, it should though be better in almost every way to the current shogun.

What’s the competition for the shogun?
