I have no issues in legitimate areas but a lot are deliberately sited in areas of confusing road signage etc

Had to go into Lincoln last weekend and there was about 4 30 to 40 Changes on one stretch and if you have never been down that bit of road as I Hadn't it's very easy to be caught out especially as the signs are at junctions when you are concentrating on getting in the right lane etc

There is a stretch I drive regularly that was 60 when I first passed my test, then it was reduced to 50. Then it was reduced to 40. Now it has been fecking reduced to 30, what next bloody 20? Its an A road rural ish, straight, odd junction not many houses / pedestrians etc.

There's a long stretch in Aberystwyth that used to be 40 with 30 either side. It's now all 30 but there's no 30 signs whatsoever. There's no 30 signs at all in the kilometre length. All they did was remove the 40 signs. Obviously they catch more locals than visitors.

I'm pretty sure that i have read somwhere that if you got a ticket from a speed camera that measured you speed though Glass that was not part of the instrument, so van front or rear window , or police car side window for example you could not be prosecuted , the machine is calibrated and anything that comes beetween the machine and the target would invalidate that calibration so your potentual speed could be in correct.
speed camera vans always have the window open at the rear , the camera too the front could possibly be there to record motorbike number plates to corolate to the speed camera with a time stamp or something, but maybe not tl record the speed for a prosecution at least

Got a half mile stretch that goes from 30 to 50 and instantly back to 40 then 30 ,,plod loves it .the laugh is where the 50 bit is ,you cant as theres steep railway bridge on a double S bend and a factory back side of it so the chances of meeting an artic entering of leaving it can easily cause a prang

A couple of years ago two lad had new number plates made up the same as the police van and then they went back and forth through the speed camera.
I now some who has a set of number plates the same as a traffic police car and when he knows of a camera working he goes out for jolly

Was told long ago to ask to see the calibration certificate for the mobile cameras ,,like as not mr plod holding it will say its been done but has to prove it and as they only the operator ,they have no idea if its correct

  11. I drive a van.

I can only do 50 legally on A roads.

This makes the people behind me unhappy.

    Ho hum.

Ive travelled 250 miles today, much of it on motorway. Two vans overtook me as if I was standing still, at dusk. I had the cruise control on 79mph.

Sounds like there are loads of criminals on the roads speeding the police should do something about them...

The average speed was about 80. I certainly didn't overtake many.

    Get out much, do you?
