New spray but no licence.

Guy along the road got a new sprayer this week, he's spraying rushes etc on his farm, but l can bet he's not got a licence or what ever you need to use it or does grandfather rights still count if its only used on your farm.

Grandfather rights were phased out several years ago.

Strange thread. How do you know he hasn't done his PA1 & PA2, and is it any concern of yours?

I know of a few spraying 100+ acres with those 800 litre cheap galvanised sprayers with no on/off as there to far away from a modern tractor so just leave it on and keep driving, no induction hoppers etc either, no licenses and no idea on how much they use just a “half bottle of this and that” was what they said they used

The last few years that grandfathers rights was still allowed it was only on your own land and not for profit(contracting)

Did my grandfathers rights qualification about 3 years ago, just before it was removed, cost £200. Last year went to buy some Grazon 90, showed my card and the seller said it wasn't needed as it is the person applying it that needs the qualification not the person purchasing it. Therefore it seems anybody can go and buy the chemicals and just swear blind that Joe Blogs contractor will be applying it for them even if this is not true.

You me or anybody can get as much as they like off eBay or Amazon, no questions asked. There are a whole host of "professional" chemicals on there that anyone can buy.

Why did you not simply do a proper PA 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 course instead of a pretty poor, IMO, substitute? Then there is no issue with insurance or application or simply doing the right thing. Seems like the chemical sellers need a kick up the arse. Yes I can buy a loada stuff using my holding number but I did a heap of PA's a while ago. It was fun and informative and I'm a better spray applicator for the course.
I'm using my quals again for insect infestations so they are a useful tool in the box.

It's sh1te though and spread around by folk who really shouldn't be allowed near any chems except Fairy liquid!

Unless they have your holding number and know you have a PA1 certificate they shouldn’t actually sell you any pesticides.
Ever had to fill in anything when buying wormers like numbers to be treated and weight etc? I’ve had it with zolvix when I’ve picked it up but when I’ve phoned to have it delivered it’s never been asked
