New telehandler time

I see a torque converter transmission can have up to 95% efficiency but from a hydrostatic the most you will get is approx 85%. Indeed it is said need to budget for up to 30% of input power in the cooling system capacity.

Always wondering how come no company has tried a CVT same as fendt gearbox, it would improve the efficiency no end, no where near as much cooling required. I guess the hydrostatic part of the Fendt CVT would need to be loosened out a bit to allow it to slip a bit same as a telehandler performs.

interesting concept here https://www.diesel-international.com/off-highway/fpt-and-dana-rexroth-new-dieci-telehandlers/ Its essentially a fendt CVT with hydro only in 1st gear up to 5kph

Is JCB dual command box the same idea, I wonder how come they didn't keep the Mechanical part of the box for 1st gear or 5kph, no more overheating when you want to push something or climb

I looked at Kramer this past spring. What was surprising was that according to the Kramer salesman (Deere franchise) they wont fit anything but a Kramer headstock at the factory, and a replacement dealer fitted JCB compatible Q Fit carriage was something like £3k+, which was a deal stopper.
Went with a JCB 532-60 with the new shape cab instead, which I'm starting to really like.
seems very short sighted, thats bound to kill sales especially in the uk where you wont find many farms already using kramer headstock implements. Had a go in a new high spec bobcat handler and was extremely impressed, so they are definitely worth a look, but i havent tried any of the other brands latest offerings.

Trying my hardest to get as many as I can here. Got a 35.7 coming in the next week or so and trying to get a bendy JCB as I spent a huge amount of time on a Matbro TR250 and loved it.
If you liked a matbro 250 have a look at Schaffer & Weiderman
John Deere dealers handle Kramer. Ripon farm services come as far as you ? Cornthwaites to the west ?

Never been a lover of side boom machines. Endured a manitou 629 for 5 years. Back to a centre pivot now with Schaffer 6680. Good machine nice cab, well made.
Best advice is get some demonstrators onto your farm
How do you find them for reach compared to side boom? I have a merlo 32.6 but I like the look and idea of a centre pivot just not sure on reach and stability?

Nice vid above Our 1st handler was a Kramer312 hard as nails, only sold it as slow on road when we got another farm 3 miles away Man in the vid is the legendary Minty.Been involved with Kramers for 40 years, never did know his proper name. Reason we didn't go Kramer is to do with the uninspiring performance of the JD dealer

@aled1590
Fine for what we want. Just have to read the spec to compare reach. Stability, just have to be aware of limitations. When we had matbro & terex 200 we put duals on front for silage pit work which made them very stable. Now we let the contractor do the pit work. & only put a machine on to keep it tidy & rolled if he is under pressure

The rep says, this will be far more stable than your Terex Yea right ...............

Don't know about JCB but we've just bought a new Kramer with a factory-fitted pin and cone headstock. Perhaps it is because JD used pin and cone when they made the Matbro loaders, and JD has a small stake in Kramer.

What’s the thinking on new handlers now?

Ive a Merlo 32.6 that’s due refreshing 1000hr ish a year but don’t like the look of these new deadman switches that seem to be coming in. Is this all over the new market board or just Merlo?

Would be thinking along the lines of a 42.7 or 38.10. Any other brands to consider? Hydro drive is a must as everyone who has to drive the 32.6 loves how easy it is to get on with

Just changed a 32.6 for a 35.7. People I speak to who changed to a 33.7 don't say good things, but perhaps the extra capacity of the 35.7 means we are not setting off the load monitor each time.

We like our 35.7. Hate the deadmans switch, which I have a hair bobble on, and we have had a niggle with ad-blue but nothing that has stopped us for more than 15 mins so far. We still have a 2014 32.6 - getting into that again, makes you realise how much smoother, quieter and more responsive the new ones are. I understand that the new Merlos have a pressure sensor rather than a dead mans switch.

Not correct - you have a choice of competitive head stocks from the Kramer factory including JCB Q-fit, manitou, matbro, (Pin & Cone), cat or Volvo.
They won’t however make the merlo headstock for strength reasons.

I’m north Derbyshire and struggling to find any Kramer machines or dealers close by. I’ve always liked the look of them and would be happy to give one a try if anyone can point me in the right direction?
RVT at Sudbury are dealers, not that close I know. My Landlord at Buxton Phil Heathcote now has 2 Kramers that he swapped out from JCB's and he's really pleased with them.

Hmmm, from what you say I'm guessing the loader he was trying to sell was a 'stock order', which must have gone beyond the cut off date for making changes at the factory. The salesman gave the impression it was a regular 'Kramer thing', probably so I would accept it and swallow the cost.
His loss.

The new Merlos don’t have a dead man switch the joystick can detect your hand instead. Never had an issue with the deadman switch as you have to squeeze the back of the joystick to use it anyway. Kramer’s are a brilliant loader but compared to a Merlo they are a big lump with lots of mirrors etc to break off. Just took delivery of a Melro 42.7 with cab suspension to run alongside our older 40.7 and it’s very impressive apart from the load sensor which is a bit over sensitive.

Absolute nonsense. Seen Kramers with the Matbro and JCB headstock about.
