Is that an actual skid instead of a tri axle?
Yes. Mower tuns on skids at 25-30k so no reason a rake shouldn’t. Ran really smoothly when we had it on demo last year.

How does that cope with undulating ground ?
Pottingers big thing is coping with undulating ground and minimising soil contamination. Works really well, better than the wheels.

He's in Huntingdon, they don't really have undulating ground. ;)

No but we have a lot of ridge and furrow. One field is 27ha of ridge and furrow 🤢

25/30k that’s not the forward speed surely. Looks an interesting solution!

Regularly mow at 25+kph in second and third cut. This take has the same hydraulic suspension as the mowers.
When we had it on trial last year we had it alongside our Pottinger wheeled rake, and our Reiter merger (which runs on skids too).

We decided there and then to buy the skid rake. Our merger is now for sale if anyone wants it.

Bit confused. Are you saying that you can rake at 25/30k then? If so I wouldn’t have thought the rotor speed to keep up with that forward speed. Even a merger at over 25k is a bit hairy!

Sorry, re read my first and it was a bit confusing! I meant, the mower can cope with 25+kph on skids so no reason a rake shouldn’t cope at slower speeds.
On smooth ground here the wheeled rake started missing bits at 15k and you could see it being shaken to pieces. The skid rake got to 21k and then started missing bits as the rotor speed wasn’t high enough. The rotors were just gliding over the ground though, should really reduce fatigue. The merger hit 24k, but the swath looked awful.

I’m not advocating running at those speeds - just that sometimes it will help.
