335d is a great car. I love the touring as well. However my wife on the other hand really doesn’t, she things touring = old man car. I just can’t convince her otherwise.
One of my good mates had a saloon 335d which was remapped to around 400hp and it could really move!

335d coupe here, she’s a honey :giggle:

Where did you get it from? Have you got an electrician to install an Auto transfer switch or are you just plugging into the ring main and trip the main breaker?
Got it from here:
Although the price has since gone up a bit I see.

It will have its own input into the electrical circuit parallel to the main incomer. An auto transfer switch is a bit too dear so will just use a manual one. All critical circuits will get a UPS anyway so if there is a power cut during the night then the heating pump and well heater will continue to run until we wake up and figure out there was a power cut. Am electrically trained myself and usually do the installs myself and then get a professional to sign off and sort out the certificates.

What type of manual transfer switch are you installing?

Originally I was just thinking a rotary 100A/2 pole/3 position switch. But these got me interested and might buy one just to see what's what.
Do you have a second switch upstream of your main breaker box or will you have to get the power switched off at the transformer fuse to install that?

There is a switch inbetween the meter and the cable to the main breaker box. That switch will feed the changeover switch and the cable to the main breaker box will then be connected to the changeover switch to allow a safe way to switch between main and generator.

Perfect. Will you have to have the generator located next to your house meter?

Is there a common method to alert when the mains comes back on? I was thinking a switched strobe connected to the mains incomer in your example, but wondered if there was a done thing.

As long as you ensure proper protection of the device a strobe could work. The main incoming fuse protection needs to be brought down to probably single amp values with a MCB or fuse specifically for the strobe. Matching incoming and outgoing wire diameter on a single device will be fun. Get a tame electrician involved if you are not 100% confident as playing about is just too risky.
