The crankshaft bearings are failing. Don’t let the bad stories put you off, you won’t hear the good ones! I have a 18 plate Disco 5 Sd6, 3 litre 306hp ( the best engine ) with 65k miles and no issues. They are so nice to drive, nothing compares in that category.
I had a disco 4. It was a nice day when I said goodbye to it. Nothing major bad happened apart from air compressor and electric handbrake but as Dirty Harry once said. You feeling lucky punk I reckoned it was time it left.

Since we have started going back Australia after Covid shutdown we have noticed there is a lot more Land Rover vehicles on the road sales must be very good here 👍🏻

My Defender has been faultless in 20k miles which is nothing less than you’d expect but if you went by what the internet says it should be on it’s third engine by now and sat up at the dealers for 3 months at a time with electronic problems.

I don’t think there’s anything to match the way they drive, that 3.0 straight 6 is a peach.

That’s the same with everything, based on the stories on here you would never buy anything… as everything is sh!t

To be fair, if I spent Land Rover money on a car I would expect it to work at the very least.

I would love a disco 5 or even a new defender, but I just can’t seem to pluck up the courage to spend that kind of money on something with such a poor reputation for reliability.
I’ve had mine 6 days now and it hasn’t broken down …….. well technically it’s hasn’t broken down but the tow bar won’t deploy so yes its broken . But I still think it’s the best vehicle I have ever driven .

What's size body is on that trailer?
What style back door does it have?
Looks well made.
It’s a 14 ton dropside multipurpose dumper, with a “magic” hydraulic door.

I'm sure your Defender is absolutely spot on, no worries. Meanwhile there are 7 others in the dealership with 4000 miles on that have been back and forth to the dealership like an old fiddlers elbow.
