New Toyota Hilux

Thinking of buying a new hilux,because I want a vehicle to tow
3.5 ton legally for once,and have always found toyotas to be
very reliable in the past.It is quite hilly in our area would I
be better off with a auto gearbox for towing or is first and reverse in
high range quite low geared. Do these vehicle
require Add blue if so how much.?

I would buy automatic, because it will avoid starting off in low range at most road junctions.

How much Adblue? Not a lot. 25 litres will probably see you right for a year or more, but it depends on how many miles you cover and on how much of that is while towing. Plus the design bias of that engine. I haven't run one, but they usually go for between halfway and just over the recommended oil change interval between Adblue top ups..

Add Blue does about 8000 to 9000 miles, on new 2.4 Hilux.

The other advantage with auto and hill starts while towing is that rather than slipping the clutch or revving the engine and dumping it resulting in loads of wheelspin is that you can feed the power in gently.

Much easier on the driveline and tyres...... Unless you prefer the tyre squealing head turning approach

Yes it can.ive got an auto and it seems good if a bit thirsty but hoping that will improve with more miles.only done 300 so far.not dragged a trailer far yet but gearbox can't make up its mind wether to be in 5 th or 6th

My one has done over 4000 miles now and improved immensely.

When ordering a new Hilux, be aware of towing capacities, there is now a new derogation to tow 3.5 ton, but most already released are only 3.2 ton, would have to be ordered as such.

Drove down to Yorkshire today 100 miles and averaged 40mpg that was a lot of steady driving its normally around 28-30mpg, manual box, I have had a few problems but now fixed under warranty very nice to drive excellent gearbox but could do with a little more power

Issues with brakes, pdi problem they won't adjusted properly.
Difficult to change gear after about 30min driving turns out oil was getting trapped in the linkage, a known problem it didn't take them long to fix it.

If it's an invincible the anti collision camera in the windscreen has a habit of steaming up and stops working, it doesn't effect the pickup just an error will come up on the dash
