so the policy of keeping world peace, by uniting countries by trade, so they have to rely on each other, has suddenly proved not so good. Russia has learnt that, a huge amount of 'spares' were made in Ukraine. Think that will have to change now !
On the money, all that World Trade has done is flood the planet with cheap tatt. Even the ' poor ' Africans can't get rid of all the new clothing that is dumped onto there markets by the West.

We don’t get new clothing dumped on us at all. Everybody here wears ‘mitumba clothes’ secondhand clothing imported by the container load from the west. And when i say everybody i mean everybody my wife and kids spend hours in the secondhand shops and stalls you get some really good designer stuff. Quite a lot of clothing is made here for the major retailers though.

Bloke in the village is a foreman on a big South Wales road project, they're waiting for a bridge to be delivered from Ukraine. Not holding his breath
That’s probably for the Heads of the Valleys job, in which case it’s going to be delayed as they spec’d the gold plated option! Money no problem for Welsh Government and Labour heartlands!

Yep. Plenty of steel and firms to make the bridge in this country. All the base and groundwork is done, just waiting for the steelwork to arrive and drop onto the bolts.

There’s quite a few Claas combines ordered for harvest 23 already!
I think orders for combines for 2022 had to be made before the end of August 2022 plus they’d been reorganizing the factory and there’s been issues with headers which I think are made in Hungary. There’s also been issues with tractor supply as things like floor mats were in short supply.

with all these really "long" lead times for equipment, does anyone else think that there will be a number of people forward ordering machinery/trucks etc in case they need them. By the time they are due delivery, many businesses will have changed and we could potentially end up with a load of equipment which is not required?

It’s a throwback to the mid seventies when you couldn’t get a new Ford or Massey for two years and when you got it the price was much more than when you ordered it so people went and bought something foreign like a John Deere .
Dad bought a new Ford 5000 in 1971. Turned up in June 1972 after 3 significant price rises and wasn't the spec ordered, was told "Take it or leave it and join the end of the queue again, someone'll have it".

Spoke with Jcb rep this week, they said 2 years for construction spec and 8 months for ag spec.

It will keep the price of near new stuff up.
Jcb rep told me yesterday that anything with a delivery date beyond October will have a 4% price rise on the agreed price. Can't see many being happy with that!
