Surely a Disco 4 fits the bill perfectly?

@Forage Trader I don't lease but have looked into it quite extensively. I do a similarly high mileage, 30k/year and it makes the lease costs astronomical. In your situation it might be be better to buy say, a 1 year old vehicle and then get 2-3 years out of it before moving it on and starting again.

Example leases for a VW Touareg 35k miles (couldn't go any higher!).

because they are homogenized now, all the same blobs with bells and whistles on everything.
What happened to the old cars you could throw into a corner and come out sideways.......or bounce off the hedge without a mark?

Why don't you get a pickup? They're pretty comfy these days, a lot cheaper to buy than one of your "trucks" and you can claim the vat back. No brainier IMHO.

Ha-ha, your funny!

Imagine driving 500 miles in a day as FT says he does on occasion in one of those!
I do agree

Hence my suggestion earlier. A modern pickup for towing and swanning in to Carmarthen. A Fiesta Sport van or whatever takes your fancy as a small supermini (car derived van or car) for the miles. Plenty of creature comforts. MUCH better and more economical than a Toureg or whatever.

The vehicles @Forage Trader is talking about, he isn't needing 3.5t tow capacity ?
The best of the lot would be the Volvo XC90. If you do need 3.5t - you will never beat the Toyota Land cruiser for capability and comfort.

But either way ignore any suggestion of buying a LR. Hateful vehicles - yes, I mean the Range Rovers and Discovery's. Worst vehicle manufacturer for reliability 16 of the last 18 years. Just look at the comments on all the LR 'sponsored' adverts on FB for the new vehicles... it's a PR nightmare - never have I seen such an unhappy group of owners.

As said, 40k miles a year I think you'd need to buy outright rather as lease.
