It's funny how different people treat buying cars, I was listening to an American talk show on the radio the other day, one of the presenters said his car was knackered, 480,000 miles. So was looking for a fresh car but didn't see any point in a new one as he racks the miles up to quickly!

To rack up 480,000 miles would take about 12,000 running hours at highway average speed. Let's say that he drives five hours a day for five days a week for 45 weeks a year, and that it isn't run in shifts with different drivers. That's 1575 hours a year. 63,000 miles a year.

So seven and a half years to drive 480,000 miles or thereabouts. Could be a lot less time if it was a taxi or bus being worked in shifts 24 hours a day of course, even in the UK.

Anyone who ever bought a McHale product from the 1990's until about five years ago has probably met him. Mike Walsh.
Mike Walsh top man and still with Mchale. Some of those miles in the early days was towing a trailed Mchale bale wrapper everywhere including up and down our Motorways.
