I’m in the market for new tyres for my Massey Ferguson 390t, old ones giving trouble,
Tractor only gets 150 hours a year mostly hauling bales and trailers Old ones are 420/85 R34s klebers
Going for 460s now and don’t mind spending on a decent brand that will do another 20 years like the last pair.
what would be the ones to go for? These are the ones my brother has sent me

If it’s four-wheel-drive you’ll have to get the right ratio. I see a neighbour has just fitted Vredestein to his 390t and I’ve just fitted them to a 5000

460s are going to potentially need a wider rim 15x34,whereas yours might have been fitted with a 14x34. Also if 4wd you will have to go to either 380x85x24 or 320x85x28 depending on your rim size ( either 24 or 28) , but if 2wd a nice replacement for 420 85 34 is 480 70 34

Is a 70 shorter than an 85 and if so will I lose speed as she is slow enough already,

No, well technically yes but 480 70 34 is the same as 420 85 34. I won't say exactly because someone will contradict this. 480s will leave it basically as it is on the the 420 all be it looking better. 460s will leave it slightly higher 2 " at the rear. With it being 2wd you can do whatever you want
