Chased up a quote from a stove installer, to be informed that they can no longer install solid fuel ’boiler stoves’, as the government has yet to clarify the details of the European ‘EcoDesign Lot 20’ regulations.
I rang the Arada Stoves factory and they confirmed that it is not possible to design or manufacture a stove that is both capable of central heating a modern house while meeting the UK’s interpretation of the ‘Ecodesign’ specification, as the flue gasses cant get hot enough to burn 'clean' while warming the water jacket. Every stove manufacturer supplying the UK market has ceased production of ‘boiler stoves’ until the government clarifies the situation.
Theres no gas main for 10 miles, Kerosene fuel has risen from 40p/l last year to £1.32 this week, and electricity prices are spiralling out of control. I’m trying to make my cottages efficient and affordable for low income families, but thisbulls**t bureaucracy means they're going to have to keep using horrendously inefficient Baxi open fires. Room heating stoves are still available, but the tenants would lose their existing water heating back boilers.
The only reason that I'm starting a thread here is to point out that we are 'led' by f**king idiots.
