New workshop roof

Thanks for replies. Have just got guide prices to help with my decision. 0.7 box profile with anti condensation backing was base price on 9×3 timbers. Fibre cement on 12×3 timbers £3500 extra plus £500 extra erection cost. 30mm composite £10000 extra. I was originally under the impression that fibre cement and box profile were similar cost but the tight budget has swayed me towards the box profile

Ouch...

I'm putting a galvanised frame with a composite roof within old stone walls to replace the existing slate roof on my workshop.

No question of looking at compromising - I want a tidy, clean frame and a cosy, dry roof on the same site - as I have worked under a dripping roof for nearly 20 years. (Too many other jobs were a priority - Got a bit ridiculous when water runs out of the workshop.)

My frame and roof costs are not much more than your uplift on the composites. Shed size only 55' x 30' though. I presume yours is a much bigger shed?

Taking down the old roof (carefully and safely....) and replacing floor, rewiring, etc. ( - before I bring the equipment back in) are the areas where my costs are mounting.

Only thing id do different is prob put a few velux in .
Roofer mentioned it mid job , hadn't even occurred to me. Would be another thing to worry about, leave open in rain ....

If you have electric ones they have rain sensors built in. Our Fakro one does anyway.
