New years Eve/Christmas

I'm more worried about Chav and Daisy night (wife and daughter on the piano), on my birthday, between Christmas and the New year, when the extended family all come round for good fare and a good old sing song around the johanna.

that wouldn't cancel Christmas it would still happen if everyone was on their own

Exactly. And given that Eid happened under lockdown with very little complaint from those affected and Jewish New Year/ Yom Kippur are likely to too, I think it would be wrong for us Christians to make a fuss. In fact I think it may be rather nice for Christmas to revert to a time of private celebration rather than the retail nightmare and festival of excessive consumption it has become.

Sing a few Christmas carols to the cows in the morning and a good Christmas dinner with the family, do for me, like any other year

Another lockdown, maybe, but surely the country can't afford another round of furlough, self-employed grants, eat out to help out etc etc?

The money doesn’t actually exist. It’s being borrowed by ourselves, from ourselves, printed by ourselves and is owed to ourselves. Given that inflation only reduces the debt that we owe to us, printing more just means that the amount we owed ourselves from before is now less, or something.
