New Zealand dairy experience?

Do it, you will have a blast. Find the right location and you can ski between milkings on Saturday and surf between milkings on Sunday. Bath in natural hot springs, whale watch from Kaikoura, skydive and bungee if you dare. When you have time to travel backpakers accommodation is (or at least was) good, safe and cheap. Explore it all you lucky bugger. Just be warned you might not want to come back..

Where’s the best part to visit to get that sort of experience?

I might be biased but I would say anywhere within an hour of so of Christchurch gives you options to surf or ski. From there anywhere on the South Island can be visited on a weekend away, North, South, East and West. Then save up at least a week holiday to cover a trip around the North Island.

No matter where you go, just go if you want to. It will be the experience of your life.

I had a student from N.I. for 5 month in 2017. I liked it and i think he did too. @Sheep

As above, I had a great time and gained a lot of experience. Absolutely go somewhere out of the UK.

What I would say is don't limit yourself to just NZ, I've spent time in England, Denmark & Germany, not many people go to Europe but I think its very beneficial, especially comparing to UK farms. Saying that, I've had friends that went to NZ and had the time of their lives, so well worth going in my opinion.

Just drove past some fantastic farms today between duntroon and Omarama then on to Twizel in the central south island. Nicest spot ive seen so far. (And not too far away from queenstown!)

Really?

Thats close out here! Most places down here you have a 1/1.5 hour drive to do some shopping if your out in the sticks.

I'm well aware I lived up the road from duntroon for a year. I know the farms your talking about.

Lovely spot until the reality strikes that you are literally in the back arse of nowhere and it's a but sh1t.

Lol the media is constantly outraged about those Twizel farms, totally ruined the country apparently:rolleyes:
To be fair the one with the massive junk yard needs to tidy their crap up but a couple of them are absolutely immaculate(y)
Duntroon's a great spot but as Irish said its the middle of nowhere.
This ones in that area, great view from the collecting yard:cool:

Not as much as you'd think. That one, 30,000 litres on a 48 ton general permit.
Very low axle weight limits here due to rubbish roads, weak bridges etc.
Some factory to factory units on main roads (or THE main road on the south island:rolleyes:) could go quite a bit higher.
