Newholland lm5040 load sensor not working

Recently bought a newholland LM 5040 handler, has only done 2400hrs and paid a good price. Drove it around the owners yard and boom was working fine. Couple days later it was deliverd and we hadn’t had it 20mina and all of a sudden then boom wouldn’t work and all we could hear was a high pitch beep. We learnt that there is a red button you can press to over ride it and use the boom but it needs to be fixed as of silage season. We also have learnt that it’s and error code (33). Any reply would be much appreciated.

Kind regards Sam

You'll need to speak to a dealer find out what the error code is.

On these newer systems you have switch to tell it if boom is in or out and another one to tell it what height it's at. Plus the strain gauge on axle or chassis. So knowing what the error code means will hopefuly narrow the fault down to a circuit or component.

If it was an older machine with no hyd cut outs I'd just rip the sli system off it and fit a simple manitou system on it.

Sorted then buy a new sensor?
If it's like the manitou one it comes hard wired with the cable right up to the read out box in the cab. Them wires are like telephone wires really tiny and near impossible to join if broken so just not worth nothing about.

The sensor will be a metal box, a couple of inches long, with two bolts holding it to the top of the rear RH axle. It'll have a 18" or thereabouts long flylead, with either a two pin or possibly the later three pin plug on. There is a set way to replace the sensor, and it'll need calibrating as well- I wonder if the best bet would be to have it calibrated first? We used to do it a lot on the LM5000s.

Thanks for the reply, can the sensors be fixed or do you know the price of one?

As far as I know they can't be fixed- best bet on a replacement would be your local dealer, and I'd still suggest a calibration or bit of troubleshooting first- the displays were just as prone to fail as the sensors were!
