they obviously spent under the £10k limitThe CLA stayed neutral on brexit why couldnt the NFU do the same? It was the only sensible thing to do on such a divisive issue with such strong feelings on either side

They didn’t spend the money only on remain side,I for one thought they did a good job of trying to give both sides of the argument and I think most members wanted them to do that.they had to come down on one side of the fence to be able to do anything during the referendum and I think they came down on the right side because it would of been a devilish hard job now going to government to argue for continued support of agriculture if we had come down on the leave sideDid they waste £73,000 of their members money to stay neutral !?! Can't see what the argument is about as it clearly states that the NFU spent the money for the remain side.................. not the Brexit side or the neutral side.
I do appreciate that Sid is trying hard for the NFU cause, but hopefully he must see why the members are so divided and demoralised with how their hard earned money is been spent. It also appears the council that are allowed a vote on farming matters, don't actually represent what their members are concerned with.

it does concern non members if the nfu are seen to support remainAre you a NFU member @Tamar ?
If not, what are you complaining about as it doesn’t concern you.
If you are then I’m sure your relevant County Adviser would be pleased to spend some time with you explaining the situation.
Absolute rubbish the attitude of the NFU has nothing to do with non members. If non members feel they want to to influence NFU policy, it is quite simple , JOIN.it does concern non members if the nfu are seen to support remain
if the NFU has half the influence they claim to have what they say will have an effect for ALL farmers
that argument don't wash

I cannot remember any member complaining about the literature the NFU sent out at the time, I am sure there would havre been howls of outrage from Brexiteers if had been blatantly campaigning for remaining.
I seem to remember people saying fair enough, it might cost farmers a lot but it is worth it to leave.
why have you heard any straw prices ?Getting a little forage price tracker thread on here
I think you probably already know the answer to that one from previous correspondences.
I was a member all my farming career, including paying into all the extras and doing all my insurance with the mutual. This year I stopped my membership, mainly as I didn't like the way the NFU was pushing the RT.......or paying into the remain camp.......or opposing the minimum wage to farm workers. (Why should they be paid pittance, just because we are fools working for less some years.)
I'm a man of principle, hence the reason I also opted out of any farm assurance scheme, as I know it is lying to our customers to maintain that the scheme can trace the food from their plate back to the farm it was produced on.
But can you really complain about how an organisation manages its own affairs of which you are not a member?
I hope from other posts here that you now understand that the NFU did not pay into the “Remain Camp”
Just a quick google search on the position of the union and every article points them to the remain campaign.
