Moved a few yrs ago and don't regret it . With CalebRoberts and year on year we have a like for like quote off NFU and they can't touch the quote off Caleb Roberts. We always give NFU a chance but they admit to not being able to beat it . They are also first class on claims , but I could never fault the NFU on that either.

Yes we were very happy with H&H when we were with them.
Not gone with them this time though, a local broker was dead keen and has done us a very good deal on the pickups, car and tractors. Stayed with the NFU for the farm and buildings as the others couldn't do as good a deal on TB insurance.
Thank you. Looking like we'll probably go with them this year at least. Been too loyal to NFUM, leading to them taking the p. on price.

Someones got to pay for the chief execs annual pay rise:

Lindsay Sinclair way paid £1,809,745 in 2016. But he took home £2,123,111 last year, a 17.4% increase...

What does it say in the adverts?: "THATS THE MUTUAL BENEFIT!" ;)

These were the figures from last year, does anyone know what pay rise they're voting for at the AGM this year ?

Just having a look at NFU figures, they have 95 % retention rate which means they probably don’t have to try to be overly competitive. But the NFU is owned by its policyholders so, supposedly giving any profits back to the policyholders in the form of discounts. In my mind even with ‘discounts’ they won’t be the cheapest, so where does all the money go? I’m guessing the whole system with over 300 offices and hundreds of self employed agents, whose general aim I guess is to make as much money as possible, is very inefficient and whilst some feel they are getting good old fashioned service, they are undoubtedly paying for it.

Join the dots !

....... I might have mentioned this before !

It's quite a shame because the mutual used to nearly be a household name, although it has that peculiar agent business model.

I just don't see the need to fleece loyal customers. Collecting and retaining them with reasonable quotes and dealing with claims quickly and professionally should be a piece of cake, surely?

Selling insurance might be an interesting plan B for me to consider in the future.

If the CEO is getting 2.2 million as a salary then something needs to change.

Are the NFU linked in any way to the insurance company NFU Mutual?

Yes. They are stand alone businesses but I think there's more to it than that. I'm not going post what I'd heard from Tim Bennett when he was the boss of the NFU but there was some money flowing out of the NFUM into the NFU then.

Why not post it ? Why be complicit if there is deceit ?

How does the salary of the mutuals top man compare with other insurance providers and the amount of buisness they do?
It’s a heck of a lot of money however you look at it but is it just what people in such jobs expect?
