NFU Scotland expands its policy team

Written by William Kellett from Agriland

Lisa Hislop joined NFU Scotland this week, taking on the newly created role of policy assistant.

She will work across the policy team, providing assistance in formulating NFU Scotland policy on a range of key objectives that underpin the strategic goals of the organisation.

Prior to joining the union, Hislop worked for Street League as their employer engagement executive, where she developed employer networks to create work opportunities for young people.

She recently graduated with first class honours in International Business Management with French from Edinburgh Napier University.

Coming from an agricultural background, in her spare time Hislop also helps out on the family farm.

Looking at her new role within NFU Scotland, Hislop said:

“I am delighted to be joining NFU Scotland at what is an exciting and interesting time to be involved with Scottish agriculture.

I am looking forward to working within the policy team to support the sustainability and profitability of the industry, while addressing the key challenges we face in the current climate.

Commenting on Hislop’s appointment, NFU Scotland’s head of policy Gemma Cooper said:

“I am really pleased to add Lisa to our well-respected team of policy experts. Her role is a brand-new position and an expansion of our existing team of lobbyists.

“As such it will boost our policy and lobbying capacity on behalf of our membership.

“Lisa has already shown us that she is incredibly talented, and I have no doubt that NFU Scotland members will see the benefits of Lisa’s appointment in very short order”.
