I'm completely out of the loop with tractors but we've had a speculative quote/promotion through the post for the above tractor and it seems quite reasonable.

Anyone got one? Been reliable?

I did a quick search but didn't bring up any threads or posts, has there been any?

Had one on demo at college didn't like the shuttle with no neutral position other than that it not bad, cab quality not that good tho.

Only done a few hundred hours in it, mainly leading bales, bit of feet spreading etc. can't fault it at all.
Lovely little yard tractor.

Oh yeah - forgot about the neutral button!
Hated it with a passion for the first hour or two - not a problem now I'm used to it.
Can change quite happily between the NH and MF and not struggle to remember which is button which isn't - just becomes second nature!

We had a T5 115 for 2 months and it punched well above its weight. You get used to the neutral button after a few hours. Good vision out of it.

The quote is for a basic spec machine, which is all we need really. 2 mechanical spools, free flow return,12x12 transmission with power shuttle, no air con, 1800kg mechanical self level loader with bucket and basic tyres.

The tractor has to unload/load materials, carry the post basher about, do some pushing up now and then and a bit of hay making.

Dealer is coming out tomorrow to look at our Landini for PX so we'll see what he comes up with. I expect we'll be in a similar situation to what has been described in the Deutz thread, whereby the Landini dealer offers the best trade in so you end up sticking with them. I'm happy to stick with Landini (we run 2, and the dealer is good as gold) as this tractor has been more or less faultless for 4500hrs and we might as well keep running it for the same again and get our monies worth out of it.

I see in the other thread the cab floor is low down. what's the machine like to climb in and out of? When working on my own and on a good run I could be climbing in and out the tractor 150+ times. The Landini does lose point there as the door is narrow, steep steps and a bit cramped, newer machine is far better.

I haven't noticed the cab floor to be low down - very easy hopping on and off all day long.

Does look a good loader tractor , I read that the pto lever is on the opposite side to the spools , do people find this a pain ? And how stable is it with the loader , our last new holland (TS 100) had to have the tyres ballasted , now running JD's and are very stable on the loaders , but not so good on ploughed ground

Yes pto lever is on left (the one that changes it from 540 to 540e to 1000rpm) - not an issue for me, as it spends most of its time in 540e anyway.
The on/off is on the right hand side as usual.

Ours is nice and stable when carrying a big Hesston bale - put a ton weight on the back to carry 2 though.

Try the tractor and loader out for balance, as there are suggestions that the basic model offer is (dangerously) unstable.

CNH have previous for poorly-balanced basic loader tractors, as I know to my cost, so I'd suggest trying it out on the type of work you'd expect to do.

And if I'd actually seen my neighbour's new T5 series gone arse-over-tit (rather than just heard about it) I'd use much stronger words.

In this livestock area there's a trend towards cheaper basic 100hp loader tractors, which tends in practice to mean 'lighter' - within a 3 mile radius I've heard of both a new Claas CX and a new CNH T5 going 'up and over', which is pretty startling.

Modern day loaders can lift a lot more than older ones, I'd be surprised if the tractor is any more unstable than an older one.

getting the wheels put at a decent spacing & having the rear tires ballasted would be the most important steps I'd think.

I'll ask, what sort of deal did you get?

I won't go into specifics, but it is a good deal. Massey and Landini were slightly cheaper but we felt this was a better machine (for us) than the Massey and will hold value better than the Landini. The dealer knew he had to pitch it right for us as the only new tractors we had before were Ursus, Belarus and Landini. Its here to earn a shilling, not impress the neighbours. However, having a professional looking outfit is important when turning up to some of the equestrian places we go.
