By the way, did you see the anti-lockdown protest in London? Very peaceful. No statues or public assets ripped down. Police stole the PA system and damaged it and kettled a bunch of normal people who had come to hear people speak and treated them like shite. Would they do that to an XR / BLM Muslim / Occupy thing? People are getting seriously hacked off with this and there are a lot of us. We do have powers under common law and Magna Carta that are currently being ignored. Boris better get his arse in gear or we are going to end up with Starmer next time and then we are truly screwed.

The ONS survey is still biased as it is only sampling households, which leaves out many other high risk people.

Most likely is. I presume, I know one should not presume, some element of statistics is undertaken to correct this. he only reason I mention the ONS survey is that I have heard more than one professor comment favourably about the ONS result although accepting it is in arrears by a couple of weeks.

Despite the PCR test being problematic, from today the police can do/will be doing spotchecks on people who've had a positive test result to make sure they are complying with house arrest for 10 days. £1,000 fine for the first time you're caught out, £10,000 after that. And yet when my neighbours had a break-in and it was reported whilst in progress no police showed up, they just got a crime number; when pikeys nicked my heating oil and were seen to bash the front of one of my cars in the process no police turned up.

As of yet there is no law to say you have to answer the door to any visitors so I'm looking forward to the legal test case where the defendant claims they were on the loo when the police came knocking. The burden of proof would be on the police to prove otherwise.

I am getting seriously pee'd off with all of it and have signed the petition to repeal the Coronavirus Act 2020. I have also written to my MP although as they are a true-blue, climbing-the-greasy-pole Tory there's probably little point.

I am not knocking it, as it will probably be the most reliable survey available, but it still will be producing a biased result, the important thing is you know that. And starting to add unverified statistical compensating factors into the equation could make matters worse. :scratchhead:

Can't understand why anyone would want to download an electronic tag. The fact that it's not round your ankle doesn't mean it's any different.
I presume you don’t carry a mobile phone then? Or use the internet? Or make any electronic transactions whatsoever? The means to track your activity already exist so why would the nhs app make any difference? Failure to track this virus has cost this nation dear, so what is wrong with some collective action to potentially improve the situation?

I'll not bother with the app. I'll just stay at home like I usually do. Somewhat baffled at the idea that the mobile phone can save us from the apocalypse, especially as modern tech always turns out to be a disappointment.

For those worried about the electronic tag....if you stick some plasticine (ask teacher for some spare) ...in the earphone socket and over the mouthpiece of your phone, they can't actually get to you.

All the twits that can't stay home, don't give a feck what type they are
I've got a strong inkling I agree with what you're saying. But what happens/is going to happen at market? I'm hyper-careful to maintain distance moving round the office (I think I am, anyway) and even so I've found I've got too close, or the other person has. And if they've picked up children from school/bus stop etc. - not to mention university - there's always going to be a risk Which is why a working (doesn't need to be world-beating, it's not a contest) trace app is a good thing surely.

Being sensible is the best thing and for all his faults I thought that was what Boris was trying to get over to us the other day in his speech, hoping he would not have to introduce more restrictions, well thats what I got from it anyway.
The app if you get messed by the app its not mandatory to isolate anyway so I can't see much harm in it
