Hi everyone, we have gone from plough based system to a 3m claydon sr.
Been using it now for 5 years now.

I have noticed a massive improvement in the soil, and I am now looking at changing to a disc drill.

We have not sold any straw for 6 or 7 years.

Rotation is flexible, but is normally ww, osr, ww, beans either spring or winter.
Plus the odd field we can get away with oats.

Looking to put some cover crops in before spring crops.

Soil types are mostly clay loam.

Dabbled would be the right word, we tried a top tilth after a shallow subsoiler pass.
A couple of times we made a couple of passes with the discs worked and drilled it.

Then a neighbour who farmed some of our ground got a claydon and did a bit for us which worked very well.
At this point we had gone two or three years without ploughing some fields.

Its always seemed to me the way forward was dd, but just taking the plunge/affording the kit was the thing.

Interesting to hear you say you've had a massive soil improvement after 5 years of Claydon. Not something many on here would have you believe but sounds like it's worked for you. What type of land are you on?

Best of luck with the change, and hope the improvements continue!
