Still not finished despite openday tomorrow.agent came to take pics to send to prospective buyers last saturday but couldent as it was like a sh!t hole inside with mess everywhere.told him to come back wednesday and told builder but was still the same so no pics taken again.i was not happy but no one gives a f**k.should have been 5/7 painters come sat and sun to paint but only 2 came and they are still at it now.god knows if it will be done but it makes me really angry.still shower doors and bath panels to do and god knows what else.i went to strim round hedge line on boundary early today before carpenters appeared and even though they could see what i was doing they parked in the way and when asked to move one of them mouthed somthing at me.will still be stuff to do next week despite knowing it should be ready to move into by tonight.builder said it would be done by 20th originally and after i told agents and they had advertising ready i was asked by builder to delay it for a week which angered agent and it still wont be done.if i have to spend the night clearing up other people mess ill be more annoyed than i am now.ive still got the grass in the garden to cut but ill do it later.id advise anyone doing a similar project to get things like finish dates tied up with legal documents, with big financal penalties if not done in time.some of the delay is due to only one plasterer coming when 3 should have been here, kitchen fitter had 6 days away as he lost his dad which i understand but someone else could have carried on,and the 5/7 painters have appeared as only 2 delaying things further.seems like in the building trade you can lie through your teeth and expect to get away with it.anyway thats my rant over for know.im sure the local sh!t stirrer will enjoy reading this and yes i know who you are and may see you tuesday.

Its been the same here with the trades. We parted company with the builder, on the second plumber and second plasterer. Electrician never replies...ever, and then turns up when it suits him!!
We're not particuarly on a timescale though, like you, but it can still be very disappointing when they don't turn up/reply/shoddy work.
If i never see another tradesman again it will be too soon.

Best of luck with yours though and hope you won't be up too late tonight clearing the mess up.....i've done loads of that, the dirty beggars!!

they are all a bunch of pansies. we had the same problem with scaffolds a few weeks ago. However the boss did message everyday to say it was delayed, he blamed the labourers for not turning up so he was erecting with 1 other bloke. but every day he would say tomorrow but it was 6 days in the end.

Seems to be that people just don't give a 'f-shite' they still get the work and still get paid in the end.

Oh dear @nick... you sound as wound up as i was last night,i think you may have confused a sh!t stirrer with a jealous barsteward that is what they are usually when everyone is done go round the job and find every fault you can and get them to come back and rectify it before you pay them and don't turn up to let them in when you have made an appointment and generally pee them about like they have you ,I guess thats not how you do things but show them you can be a twit if need be good look

I'm sure you are right but it was known the place should be ready to move into Friday night and I've been let down.im sure they think it's only Nicholas and it does not matter but it really annoys me.ive even got to have people come back next week todo what should have been done already .and all this from people I thought of as friends.

Why my 'little' project is into year seven........But I have nearly finished phase two, or so I tell myself. Being robbed didn't help. Loosing most of my hand tools took time with new & second-hand replacements being sourced. Sorry to digress.... The hardest part was ensuring the provenance of second-hand tools so I didn't close the loop in the stolen goods market.

Hope the viewings went well today @nick... .... and the wheat loading ... plus anything else that cropped up :nailbiting: Well done on your mother for turning out to help at her age (y)

It can be soul destroying when people let you down this way, especially when you consider them to be friends, but these things happen and although it's really maddening and annoying it's out of your control so you just have to take a deep breath, do what you can do in the time that you have and what will be will be. I'm sure prospective purchasers will be able to see through certain unfinished parts and I'm sure they will realise that on the strength of the other house being sold that those buyers plus their mortgage company were happy with the build quality, the valuation and everything else so that should give prospective purchases reassurances.

Relax Nick .... you've done a smashing job and anyone can see that (y)
