Night time number plate camera?

Anyone know if its possible to get a camera that can read number plates all night? The cars would be going at about 15mph. Also is it ok to do this on a public road. This article in the vGuardian suggests it is.

Surely, if it's just a record that's needed, a simple trail cam would do that? Mine takes a picture when it detects movement, if that's how I set it. <£150, s/h off Ebay.

Yep my trail cam picks up images of number plates that are perfectly legible.
It all depends on the siting though.

Thanks for the comments. No i dont need it to read the plates to a computer just want to be able to see them the following day if my neighbors get burgled. With our old cameras the glare of the headlights prevents me seeing the plate at night. Some cameras have a setting to avoid this.

Or position the camera so it is outside the full glare? Would that work?

You need an ex highways or police anpr camera, I picked up 3 at a ham radio rally for 50 quid. They are very good.... Nice clear pics of reg plates and faces.
