Nightingale hospitals

I guess if it became necessary the military would be used to staff them as far as possible.

Think I would prefer an overworked qualified nurse in a packed hospital ward than some squadie sent in the man the nightingale!

I am being facetious but all I ever hear is use the military - but then every so few years read Army is understaffed, not enough sailors, insufficient RAF staff. Are the military crying wolf then when they say there are not enough squadies?

Thete are thousands of ex front line NHS staff that were contacted to check on their skill sets to staff these and normal.hospitals, my mrs has worked in the nhs all her working life some as a nurse then a midwife now a health visitor, she would have been deployed had the need arisen, just be grateful she was driving you anywhere, that would have been scary😱😱

Didn’t they get several 100’000 ex NHS staff to volunteer at the start of the pandemic? Don’t think any of them were needed/used?

What about the 3/4 million volunteers for helping in the community?

Oh and while we’re at it, did they all get their “carers” badges?

No, they were / are a sensible precaution against an unknown threat. The staff were arranged for, via former NHS staff, the military and people from the private sector. So, staff were / are there if needed, no con. (y)
You live in a dream world Danllan and have gone down in my opinion
there was never any skilled staff spare to run these hospitals
The military have relied on the NHS now for many years to staff their hospitals

I thought they were basically built to care for patients that “couldn’t be helped”. Every nightingale i know of also had a morgue / or provision for such attached to them.

Put it this way, I wouldn’t fancy my chances if whilst lying on the trolley i saw nightingale on the sign as i was being wheeled in.
