We have a D40 Navara which snapped in half which we have mended ourselves. We went to the local dealer when we found out that Nissan may do some kind of compensation deal.

Went to our local dealer who put us in touch with someone direct from Nissan, after a couple of phone calls he said you can get 12k for the old Navara if you buy a new np300. When we have looked into this further it is not a good deal. That 12k is including VAT and discounts you get off a new one anyway. They are offering us bugger all when is all said and done.

What's other people' experiences of the deal? I don't think they are offering enough.

From what i could see from a brief look they are still using the same chassis, but with the strenthing
plates bodged on. to make it worse they have put enough iron ore into the weights to have built a proper chassis

As far as i am aware the offer is because the chassis has broken due to corrosion not bad design as the anti corrosion warrenty thats being used to claim on as the vehicles warranty has long expired , so any plates on the chassis are not really of any consequences, presumably the anti corroision coatings have been improved on the new ones .

Are they not offering to fit a new chassis foc???? As talked to one guy that had a 9 year old one and he said he had 3 options
1- Nissan buy back at book value or above
2- Nissan fit new chassis foc
3- Nissan would do a new truck and give over book value on the old one.
And in this time a loan vehicle was given for 2 weeks.
Sounded very fair as it's a known fault due to under size chassis.

Fitting a new chassis didn't seem to be an option, they said its not worth it.
Well if the discount is 5K then Nissan appear to be underwriting the old D40s to the tune of about 5k + vat then:unsure:
Yes they are, some D40's will be worth that anyway, bit of an insult when the product you have bought off them snaps in half. Ours didn't seem to rotten when it snapped, the metal seemed in good condition but one day it just split in two.

Interesting.... Nissan recently recalled Pathfinders in Canada and bought most of them back around here. Strut towers would break off and hit steering shaft and left vehicles with no steering. Was either repaired by installing reinforcing plates or if too rusted out they were bought back for a very good price. They gave me double what I could have sold mine for.

Where do they split? A photo would be good so we could have a look underneath.

Oh bugger!.

Just googled Navara chassis problems and it looks a very common problem. Going to take a hard look at mine after lunch.
