What years did they sort the chassis issues out?
Assume the newer ones don't have the problem?
Assume the newer ones don't have the problem?
I'm not sure when the changeover was. Probably a 2018/19It was all the D40s that were down for recall in the end.
Initially it was only supposed to have been a problem on a couple of years worth of production of the auto gearbox versions from the Spanish factory
Initially they made big payouts to take them off the roads and scrap them. By the end they found it cheaper to weld up the chassis and return it to the customer (to mostly scrap once the mot ran out!)
What model and year are you looking at?
The new shape replacement for the D40s (some of which had the chassis problem) was released in 2014/2015.I'm not sure when the changeover was. Probably a 2018/19
Spot on thanksThe new shape replacement for the D40s (some of which had the chassis problem) was released in 2014/2015.
The new shape D23 variants don't have any problem with chassis rust. They also have independent rear suspension instead of the leaf springs fitted by every other manufacturer. While there are some who doubted the longevity and strength of the new suspension design, it seems to actually be lasting well. It certainly makes the D23 a very comfortable pickup.
Does this help?
And typically enough, after the useless engined D22 and the tin foil chassised D40,they seem to have got it right with the D23...and then they stop making it at the end of this year,if not already!
every one I speak to get engine or add blue issues with them. I asked at local garage who repair a lot of makes and are excellent with us and he rolled his eyes when I mentioned newer Navaras!! We still have a D22 on limited use, chassis is ok as we welded a few miles of mig wire and about an acer of sheet into it years ago…Dont get excited about a d23 - the engines are dying long before the chassis snaps
be carefull and check regular.Mines an 11 plate with a 3 ltr block,,It had been checked and passed before I got it .
defo not the 2.2 ranger,3.2 are good but 2.2 steer well clear. So given the choice of similar condition/price etc.
2018/19 navara out 2018/19 2.2 Ranger
What's wrong with 2.2?defo not the 2.2 ranger,3.2 are good but 2.2 steer well clear.
The only navaras i have seen all have ad blue/dpf faults that nissan don't seem to be able to fix.
sorry
i'm almost sure it's the same engine in the transit and i've replaced 6 engines last year and 2 this year, usually seized up from blocked oil pickup pipes or timing chains snapped. What's wrong with 2.2?

The later 2 litre is even worse, they have a big problem with cracked heads, only shows up when loaded or towing.
(have a mate who is master tech at local ford dealer)
I have the 2015 3.2 ranger (on his recomendation) and its been faultless (touch wood )
The latest 2.0 is snapping or stripping the oil immersed timing belt, which usually cracks the cam carrier or snaps the cams. They arent removable from the carrier and the whole lot is then replaced. The sump must be dropped and the oil pick up cleaned since this is where the timing belt bits end up...
