My 08 Ranger has just snapped in half behind the cab and I’m hunting for another pick up. There’s a 2009 navara for sale locally and it’s in my price range, just wanted to see what the verdict is on these? I know they’re prone to snapping in half as well but the chassis looks fairly tidy on this one. Other option is a hilux but they’re more money for less towing capacity. Thanks

On average, the Nissan would be far far more likely to snap compaired to an equivalent Ranger or any other pickup.
The Nissans rust through from the inside, so you don't get many visual clues of the impending doom.

Good vehicles IMO, liked mine. Whilst they are prone to snapping, I wouldn’t be put off a tidy one checked over well.
As you have experienced, others also snap, its not a problem confined to Nissan, although they do seem to have a much greater failure rate than others. That said there are many on the road older than 08 still doing a job.
i would look for a slightly later model, as post facelift they seemed to be better on fuel and i think were more powerful.
At 10+ years old, buying a used pickup can be a bit of a lottery.

On my 2nd first one sold at nearly 170,000 miles chassis ok. Current one just over 100,000 and been in for recall. (Not snapped) IMHO they are the best value for money pick up on the market. Maybe I have been lucky but have had no issues with any of mine.
