Nissan Navara or Isuzu D-Max

Looking to swap our current Nissan Navara tekna for a new truck, it does about 23,000 miles a year currently of which about 50% of that is towing.
We've got on really well with the current Navara, it's been very reliable and find it very comfortable to drive.

Had a look at a at a Isuzu D-Max Yukon from the local dealer. The real attraction being the location of the dealer and the 5 year/ 125,000 mile warranty. But the finish felt slightly more workman-like than the Navara and we really noticed the lower power. Also there was a large price difference of around £4000 which is swaying us back towards another Navara tekna.

Question is, is the Isuzu warranty worth the price difference?

Any Isuzu owners willing to share their experiences?

I have had My 2012 Utah auto back to the dealer(s) over 20 times in the first 30000 miles for problems and updates. has had some paintwork under warranty as well as numerous fuel filters and oil and filter changes due to diesel filling up the sump. It has not been back for about 4500 miles as the engine oil problem and hesitation problems it did have seem to be sorted now.
I have a lot of friends with them as well and a few had the diesel filter problems early on and one has had a diff go. Most have had no problems at all.
I'm glad mine has a 5 year warranty but I would think you could upgrade the navara warranty for a lot less than £4000
I would buy another D-Max but have been thinking about a navara outlaw V6 or a ford ranger 3.2 as well

The new Navara should be in the UK before the end of this year, or early next year. Now is either the worst time to buy a new Navara, or the best, depending on which way you look at it. I am tempted to go for an Amarok this time, but the local dealer hasn't impressed so for after I enquired about a test drive.

"Swapping a Navara for an Amarok. Yes, I have quite a few customers who have done that. Yes, sir. You want the top of the range so I assume you want to test drive an automatic? We will organise that. What day works for you? Next week Wednesday? That's fine."

Next week Wednesday was 5 weeks ago. He can go xxxx himself as far as I am concerned.

Got a new Dmax Yukon 12 days ago and i have done 2000 miles so far. I have to admit the Navara is the nicest pickup I have driven. I haven't driven a vw? I put 200k miles on 2 early model D40's and up to 100k neither were any problem but in my opinion that is where to change. The decision to go with the Isuzu was 2 fold. Towing capacity and warranty. I'm fully aware of rust problems, diesel in the sump etc but so far so good. It's a nice place to be, seats very hard though. It obviously doesn't have the power of the Navara but is no slouch and pulls well. 6th gear is a very high ratio especially when towing, fuel economy appears to be very good when not towing and much of a muchness when towing. If you don't need 3500kg towing capacity then it opens up a lot more options. It was to us so down to Ford Ranger and Dmax and the 5 year warranty made the isuzu an obvious choice. The only thing that I'm disappointed in is the bluetooth which is on another thread I started earlier today.

I have ran a dmax Utah for 9 months and have covered 40000 miles. The truck has been ultra reliable and has only made one unseceduled trip to the garage for a fuel filter. I have found it very comfortable often covering 300+ miles a day. It spends much of its life towing and also does this well. It's no super car, but can be brisk if pushed hard. Mpg has always been around the 38 mpg mark. We had a Navara before and had nothing but trouble with various bits of it. Overall we are happy with the dmax.

Thanks everyone for the replies, it's certainly given us some food for thought. I did find the seats in the Isuzu quite hard as well but I put that down to being a brand new vehicle.

Has anyone with an Isuzu had any quibbles over warranty work?
