Nitrogen in Maize drill

Ive seen it before. Dry ground even with a high p index does not necessarily mean there is any p available to the plants. It’s the classic diagram of phosphate in the soil a triangle representing all the phosphate but only the tip is what is available. The maize in the photo would have benefited from one of the many magic potions that are sold but obviously yield has been lost compared to the adjacent plants.

Bg now waits for @ollie989898 to come along a tell him he’s right and not getting his elements all mixed up ?

Yeah baby, everyone's an agronomist now. My powers have dissipated but gone on to be bestowed others. My work is done.

Phosphate doesn't move or enter solution very well- it binds to soil colloids. Which is why it needs to be placed under plants, particularly maize which has to grow very fast in a short space of time. Those little seminal roots need to find phosphate or it gets tough on the plant very quickly and you end up with other deficiencies as there is no roots to find it. Throwing endless amounts of TSP on the field won't work. I'd still be putting DAP under the row at indices of 3.

Don't neglect sulphur or potash either. These are quantities in manure of course.

Not as straight forward as any of that, sometimes it shows a massive response, some less so, no maize planted here without placed P anymore, although maybe a swing to in furrow clear liquid N+P with trace elements in place of DAP, DAP is more often than not better than no DAP, but there are better options imo
