Ive seen it before. Dry ground even with a high p index does not necessarily mean there is any p available to the plants. It’s the classic diagram of phosphate in the soil a triangle representing all the phosphate but only the tip is what is available. The maize in the photo would have benefited from one of the many magic potions that are sold but obviously yield has been lost compared to the adjacent plants.

Its not worth it round here, 10 year average 2922 OHU. I have used no DAP some years, certainly a difference early on, its the only purchased P we use across the farm so not bad insurance.You sown some under plastic @Will Blackburn ?
