Nitrogen on beans

If there is excess nitrogen in the soil legumes don't tend to nodulate. In my eyes you would be spending money on Nitrogen that nature will be providing for free.

As above, plus beans may benefit from some sulphur or micronutrients though

Has anyone used phosphite on beans. I'm looking at putting some on this year as I'm told it help protect against mildew and gives a yield response.

Yep if applied early enough in a preventive situation

Well it certainly doesn’t work like that for csfb and I was led to believe the same for the weevils but I may be wrong

Works that way for vine weevil in fruit crops but hopefully beans will outrun the weevil damage now.

I did many years ago one tramline with sulphur n, apparently it's legal to apply for the sulphur.
I don't have yield mapping but I did watch the basic yield meter on the fergy combine, it went down by best part of a ton an acre up that tramline.
I won't be repeating the exercise.

I had a little bit of NS left in the spreader many moons ago and tried it on peas. No yield monitor in those days, but couldn't see any difference.

Just put a sniff on mine today, they are 6" tall in places and starting to flower, the thought being that it may get them a bit taller for the combine, wont be much fun if they stay that hight with all the stones we have, although could be a case of getting the contractor in to bugger his combine instead of mine!

Lol, no. To be fair I will do it myself but he does get to do all the hedgecutting which he does very well indeed.
