Nitrogen yet!!!

I know it's cold, and forecast is cold, but things are growing slowly and daffs are growing. So sod it im going
must be a lot dryer with you than here
I agree crops need some nutrients but once tramlines are rutted they just get deeper

if it is as cold as some forecaster are predicting then the n will not be used by the crop but will also just sit around waiting for the crop so if it will travel then no loss from putting some on
last year we got round in februarry then it was wet in early march

A few spreaders out locally on osr. Travelling conditions on light land are good. My osr is starting to grow upwards though no stem extension yet. I'm spraying off stubbles for spring crops but will move onto osr & wheat N when this is finished. Plenty of snowdrops out here & the daffodils are starting to flower in sheltered spots.

Our N1 is digestate in the main so we will be waiting probably another 2 weeks yet. Where we will use Liquid we could travel today having just looked but as said the temps are dropping so it’ll be next week now.

If it gets as cold as some forecasts predict and for as long too, the rape will be burnt right down to the ground will want N as soon as it starts to warm up will really rocket then

I done my rape last Friday I wish I'd cracked on and done the winter barley on Saturday but didn't.

I'm planning to get urea on as soon as I can travel next week once it's dried up. Crops are starting to move and the barley is looking hungry so once the cold spell has passes it'll be romping away and will be needing it. I hate letting crops go hungry.

Been out with agronomist this morning for a good wander around ,,,,,,,, rape is moving , certainly I'm glad I put that bit of urea on the slightly backward field but even that looks a lot better today than this time last week . Could travel across all the rape today if I wanted to but on having a look at the forecast I think we might wait till next week . Also walked some wheat ,,,,,, mainly looking for BG ,,,,,,, and we didn't find any on these fields , so the pre emergence sprays have worked well , but no doubt there are some plants there , but to spray or not to spray Atlantis ,,,,,,,, that's the big question for me !!!!!!!

With the poorer seedbeds we made here this year I’m decided on doing all wheat as I’m sure some seeds will become exposed, although I can’t find any either yet. Atlantis does still do a pretty good job here yet!

No BG this year - quite relieved given massive spend. No Atlantis planned. Desperate to get something spread now but has continued to rain and it looks very, very wet. Later next week looks to be coldest so shall start then. As I have been looking at getting a new spreader, it might be that we keep the old one for a season and run both to get some ground covered.
