No AC!

Today is the first day ive needed aircon and its not working! Its recently had a new belt and tensioner pulley fitted but this is the first time i ve used it. Before you could hear it click and pull on the engine when it was turned on, doesnt do that now. Fuse is fine and i can feel relay working.

Should the part with the 3 nuts spin when its running?

Im not that mechanically minded, where should i start looking? Broken wire somewhere?

Gas has prob gone or the thermostat in the roof the part with the 3 bolts turns only when the air con compressor kicks in so it won’t be turning unless the compressor is on

If the gas has gone the clutch wont engage on the compressor. Id get it tested by someone that is certified to deal with AC.

It pays to run the AC occasionally, even when its not really needed. The gas has a lubricant in it to keep seals/valves healthy.

AC is not just for COLD air, it also conditions the air in the cab, I run mine pretty much all the time.

If Ive done a long shift in the telehandler I get really thirsty as it draws the moisture out the air.

Either a broken wire, faulty thermostat at the cab end or a faulty LP sensor. If you can get at the thermostat switch you could try bringing it out to see if the pump kicks in.

I got a shot of a power probe from a friend. I put it on the plug in the line going to the compressor. It is showing 12 volts. Then i switched power probe on at the compressor and the clutch kicked in and compressor spins.

I leave my air con all year. Never turn it off and it’s never failed on any of my tractor.......yet
Ok. I'm clearly thick but what if you have the heater on? Surely AC is working really hard to cool air that it can't and you burn lots of excess diesel? :scratchhead:

Can you run a heater AND aircon at the same time? I think they are mutually exclusive. Aircon heats on a cold day and cools on a hot day.
Bit like a vacuum flask. Keeps hot liquids hot and cold liquids cool. Never knew how it was programmed to tell the difference
