Self employed grant scheme was based on your profits averaged over 3 years I think? Some didn’t get much money from it based on that?!

I read this one about help for potato farmers.
Application for The Potato (Coronavirus, Income Support) Scheme (Northern Ireland) 2020 - NI Direct - Citizen Space

It clearly states you had to show that you had lost money.

Saw this one too.
Coronavirus: More than £18m claimed in Stormont scheme for farmers - BBC News
Basically if you had something you normally sold to a processor or retailer and they weren't buying you got help. It was there to compensate loses.
But you said you don't sell to processors or retailers so how did you lose out?

It’s classic entitled subsidy whining.
It’s quite widespread

It certainly didn’t go into bank accounts no questions asked, you had to apply for it and I believe to apply you had to declare that your buisness had been adversely affected by coronavurus.
I didn’t apply, rightly or wrongly it didn’t feel right when there were businesses out there forced to close down completely with no certainty of if or when things would return to normal yet I was able to carry on with a fair degree of normality.
Some fag packet calculations show I was adversely affected to the tune of over 10k between being asked to restrict milk output and an announced increase in milk price being withdrawn yet I still feel I’ve got through this with relatively little impact compared to many businesses out there.

Not all business got support handed out and it certainly wasn't a fair but there's nothing you can do about it. In my opinion farming got off quite light as an industry (not to say individual circumstances didn't differ wildly). To put it onto some context I work for a large consulting engineering firm and we were relatively 'very well prepared' before the lockdown in March last year and had phased in days of trial work from home. Despite this we went for over 6,500 staff we went from 25% having worked from home to 90% when lockdown was announced in 5 days. You try and sort out the business logistics off that and we never stopped working. Done 13 months of home working now, with tighter than ever deadline's, faced redundancy and yet we were one of the well performing ones and I count myself as lucky and hardly affected.
