No Deal Brexit

Both dover and chunnel have said they are ready, not sure if anyone in gov on either side is or even have a clue.
Ready for what? Sorry let me expand, ready for the worst possible scenario in a way that ensures the free movement of traffic and goods to/from the UK/EU and avoids any disruption to trade? Or simply as ready as they can be? I’m
asking as I have not heard that anything has been agreed in the past 24hrs over a WA letalone a “deal”. Tim hat on again.

Couldn’t agree more - Cannot plan for the unknown which still may not happen - no point in spending money I haven’t got until there are ACTUAL rules in place.
We have got our EROI number though [emoji6]

They're not ready, of course. It's a giant game of bluff. If the government decides that they want a 100% full customs inspection and triplicate forms for all parties, plus some special export licensing, there is no way that Dover or Eurotunnel could manage. Heck, they probably wouldn't get the forms printed, far less recruit the staff, train them and get the necessary customs officials accredited.

The French have been working on their end in Calais for the last 12 months and reckon most of it will be in place by the 29th along with the extra staff who have already been recruited. However, the French union responsible for Customs officers claim otherwise. But it looks like delays will be inevitable due to the extra checking and paperwork.

They will have plenty spare customs though, with no longer any care of keeping asylum seekers in Sengatte - now they can just let them get onto the channel and it will be our problem to catch them/ handle the claims.

Was over and back to Paris on the freight ferry recently and there is a lot of extra lanes being created approaching Calais.
Pure coincidence of course.

Hi, following your posts over the years I assume you are in the courier business!!! So carrying freight. Is this within UK or as this suggests involves inter EU movement. If the latter my question is what are you / your customers doing about March 29. Interested. Regards.

Leave on the 29th, or forget the whole bloody thing, IMO.
I see no point in a second ref, nor extending this fiasco, for any length of time. Give these buggers 20 years, and they still won't come up with a deal.
Totally agree, I voted leave and still think it would be best long term for the country, BUT I really don't think our current politicians are capable of running the country on their own. As the saying goes, they couldn't organise a pee up in a brewery.

The politicians are a disgrase. Totally incapable to respect the wishes of the electorate and act upon it.

The vast majority should be sacked for gross negligence in the work place! That goes for all the major political parties.

Yes Teresa Mays deal might be useless but I don’t see how anyone else could have done any better with the limited support she had from fellow UK politicians.

There is no way the remaining EU countries will all agree to an extension so we may as well just turn the lights off and close the door behind us.

Do we need their agreement to extend Art 50? I thought that was a decision we could make unilaterally.

https://www.instituteforgovernment.org.uk/explainers/article-50-options

As I understand the situation UK can revoke Article 50 unilaterally but requires consent from the EU to extend article 50. But I am just going on what I have seen and read. The link above is not a government website so is probably biased as most of them are one way or the other but it seems quite straightforward.

Archbishop of Canterbury prepares for five days of prayer after Brexit

Headline for an article in Sunday Times - did tickle me this morning over my porridge oats and home frozen blackberries.

By the way oats are one of my benchmark food items (sad, yes) I always purchase the 1 kg pack of savers oats in Morrisons, this has been 75pence for about three years now. The branded oats - Scotts with that picture of a hearty looking chap in a skirt have increased in price by a few pennies.

Last two are telling - not much difference between having another and having another with the result being remain - brain isn't perfect this morning, but does that imply the bookies think that a second referendum would be almost certain to have a remain result?

Don't know. Just thought it interesting and no odds shown for 2nd ref , result leave. So what does that say? Dead cert to leave?
