No deal preparation

Nothing.
The smartest men can't be sure...so no way can I.

I s'pose you could say I am not investing heavily in expanding lamb rearing capacity?
but then I'd never put me eggs in one shopping trolley anyway.

It will be hardest for the hogg feeders buying now to sell in 2021 to decide. It can be nothing but a sheer gamble at the moment. 3000 odd hoggs at £65-£70 is about £200,000 outlay plus feeding,to get 3000 x £100-£140 back in Feb/March/April. If its a balls up,might be lucky to get 3000 x £65 back.
You not expecting any to die???

Never sold a store lamb here (usually buy some) but seriously thinking of selling some this week.
Can't see the point of passing up current store trade on the hope of a trade deal that, if it doesn't happen, will mean they're only worth the same in feb/march.

Maybe hedge my bets - sell half, keep half :scratchhead:

Making room in the bank account ready for the highest beef prices in history.
Have you had to wait for the loading shovels to get diesel before they can start rolling the cash into the pits again? :ROFLMAO:

Bought all my bolus’s for all ewes and lambs for next year already. Did the same last September in preparation for brexit, hardly much but still carrying £3k into next year, fill up the diesel tank soon, from October onwards expenditures will be rent and living only, everything else will be paid for in advance

Looking at all capital items that will be needed for the early part of next year. If they are imported then ordering and fixing the price now that the pound is slightly stronger. Already filled all the heating tanks when it was 17p.
Selling everything that at the moment is making a good profit, which is most things!

Expect to concentrate on all home customers from January and make sure we have quality lamb and beef for our locals.

Otherwise it is time for a few days holiday in England, Wales or Scotland.

I’m getting ready for the mass exodus from the sheep industry ahead of New Year, by increasing ewe numbers a bit more again. I have received word from Nigel’s disciples that the future is bright away from our nearest huge trading block, so time to go for it.👍

More realistically, there’s feck all in small scale cereals (other than providing ground to grow roots for winter sheep keep), so concentrate on what you can do, without spending too much, and hope for the best tbh. No opportunities for diversification here, despite a glorious setting, as the LL made it clear from the outset that they would want half the profit (as it wouldn’t be Ag, and it’s let as an Ag holding), and he has personally scuppered two agreements to rent cottages for a B&B sideline.😡
Enviro payments down £5k this year due to schemes finishing/not being replaced, crop sales (Assuming we can get a S.Barley crop harvested) down about £10k. Lamb sales only slightly ahead of last year, on account of the shite winter hammering lamb numbers. Oh, and new LL’s agent talking of a doubling of rent (I kid you not) at next Spring’s rent review.🤣:banghead:
All bl**dy marvellous and sleepless nights currently are apparently making me grouchy.

No idea what to do (just like usual! :ROFLMAO: ) Some advice would be great though!
thing is ive found over the years the ones who advise tend not to be dependent on the advice they give nor as the modern expression is have skin in the game and those who really know keep it to themselves .I have no idea of what will happen a modicum of thoughts on what might happen but no idea of what wont happen so will be adopting the strategy /advice given to me years ago ( just keep buggerring on)
