Could this be helped from the result of having sprayed the fields around it, and thus reducing the disease pressure across the whole farm as a result. A bit like they say with the Covid vaccination logic of 70% vaccinated will protect the remaining 30% through the herd effect. (Specificially not using the term "herd immunity")
I'm convinced that i benefitted from neighbours using deter treated seed for BYDV. Ther'es definitely more about these days

Possibly, actually, this one field is completely on its own, cereal wise, and is an island amongst grass. 4 ha though so I would of thought it could are it’s own disease pool?

I always regarded the BYDV benefits as a bonus to the Slug deterring effect that Deter gave us.
Slugs being the main reason why I wanted to use Deter (originally Secure) in the first place.

I've definitely seen BYDV in Winter Barley this year though. I'm therefore wanting to move towards BYVD and BYMV resistant varieties.

The banning of Deter is a classic case of idiots looking at the Cause, rather than the Benefits of a product.
Result: More use of Slug pellets and non-specific Insecticides.

I wasn't at all bothered when deter got banned because I hadn't used it for several years pre ban and never had BYDV so thought I'd be ok but I've seen more BYDV in wheat and barley this last two years than I had for the previous 10, which just goes to prove I was seeing the protection from my neighbours who were using it.
I've never used it at all. that doesn't mean to say I agree with it being banned though.
