As per the title, how bad can they be ? Anyone got any experience good or bad of these eBay offerings that are less than half the price?

Not worth the grief ,,they dont have the charge protection that the genuine have ,,heard a few horror stories of spurious batteries over heating and exploding ,,Ffx had a great deal last week on ebay for 6ah ,,ridiculously cheap .copies are not worth it

I've had a pair for 8 yrs now. no different to originals. a mate who is a heavy user finds the same. as long as they are the same amp hr or higher. also, they work well on battery lawn mowers, just use the 6 amp hr models.

As mentioned, they may not have the same safety features that a genuine has. Not sure if Milwaukee overcharge protection is in the charger, battery or both. There have been cases where garages have burnt done due to faults with batteries when charging. Ideally chargers shouldn’t be left on all the time to avoid any issues, but we all stick them on when we are finished and they can sit on for days. If I was using any cheaper batteries, Inwould be tempted to fit a timer, so the charger only stays on for an hour or two. Something like this

remove the double socket and fit one of these with a single socket wired to it Mounted in the double box. Just hit the button to charge and forget about it. Have had no issues in 7 years though using genuine metabo or Milwaukee, so I wouldn’t risk it. Even fitting new cells to battery pack can be dodgy as they are so many fake cells out there.

Makita chargers cut out after an hour once changing is finished .

Tried them once, didn't charge properly and soon failed. Just bought some genuine 5ah ones think they were about £105 for the pair best deal I could see on Amazon.
