Good self employed people surely dont need contracts as they are in such demand can pick and choose who to work for. The boot is on the other foot nowI know you were, but that's how they get around the contract.

Probably pick up the tab for a Csection on one of the lads kids pet sheep this morning
Well I (or my business) pay the vets bill, won’t be much change out of £100 with some post care meds etc. He’s had a few hours off work to sort it out, used my pickup and trailer to take it to vets etc, the sheep’s a royal pain in the ass as it thinks it’s human, won’t run for the dog etc. But I allow it as it keeps his daughter happy, so he’s happy etc. he‘d probably sell it as well given the chance. But you're not really paying it out of your pocket are you?
It'll just be part of your vets bill-a claimable expense
Yes but these are the things that are really appreciated. So what if you can put it against tax and claim back the vat. The sheep's owner couldn't and he would have had to earn 25,% more than the vets bill pre tax so it cost the farmer 60cash and saved the chap 125. All win if you ask me.But you're not really paying it out of your pocket are you?

He‘ll make his hours up without asking, and would have paid the vets bill if I hadn’t piped up and said bang it on the account.
Heards man wants to buy some dairy heifer calves to rear, but they are far to dear to be feasible, so has asked if he can rear some pet lambs from a family member, partly for his kids, partly because he wants to go through the process and see if he can make it pay. They’ll be a PITA as well, but will support him.
Certainly agree with you on 1. and 2. Ribble
The list also needs to include "volunteering" for community projects.
I know of at least one business that regularly boasts that they are part of the local "community" What this means in reality, is that they are constantly looking for "volunteers" to litter pick the local beaches, help out at homeless shelters and food banks, look after the gardens of local oaps etc. etc.
All very well if you are into that sort of thing, but if you don't get involved, it is mentioned at your performance review.
On the other hand, they are one of the few businesses I know that don't give staff compassionate leave for the death of a family member.
