I ran the nissan out of fuel (which i have done a handful of times), i've bled her all the way to the top injector nuts and get fuel from each. But when starting she turns over lovely but doesn't want to catch at all. My initial attempts a few weeks back almost wanted to start, but now no chance.

I checked the heater relay, and it's working, not quite sure how to test it's actually pre-heating successfully.
I do appear to get white smoke

It could just be needing a sniff of easy start to help her fire, maybe a wee bit of air in the system yet and maybe the pistons are wet with fuel, coupled with a starter not in the first flush of youth so not quite as quick as it used to be.

Had a similar problem on my weidemann shovel would bleed up and diesel at injectors would turn over and over would not start changed fuel filters washed and cleaned out fuel tank though it was the electric lift pump but turned out to be a pin hole in the diesel line from the tank to the pump not just getting enough diesel for it to start and run

It has a Mitsubishi engine IIRC? Indirect injection and must be heated.....
The glow plug relay may be working but check the voltage from it to the plugs. Then disconnect the wires or busbar from all plugs. The right way to check is with a MM and test the ohms, but if you run a wire from the battery plus and touch each plug terminal in turn, there should be a spark. No spark,no circuit...bad plug.

Yes mitsi 4 cyl engine, ok so a meter between the relay and the bus bar yes?
