we have 4 milking, 5 I/c hfrs, all xbred, yields for the 4
155 nox x2 6959 4.45 3.5 305
995 x 3 7562 4.37 3.40
1368 x1 6295 4.20 3.57
1372 x1 5619 4.11 3.75
for us, perfectly acceptable, all very quiet, udders ok, just are not the same size, 1 really big, like fat 800kg, the other 3 either side of average, but they do look pretty ! as villagers keep telling us, we keep y/s in a field in village.
with 5 hfrs to calve shortly, will be interesting to see how they do, if ok, might use some sexed semen on a few this spring.

Remember an exchange trip to France 20 years ago.
Every cow with a bad udder was a normandie. First time I saw cows with bras on.
I m sure they have improved them since but it put me off the breed permanently.
Might suit a v low yield situation[emoji848]

So the general opinion is stay away

I'm looking at buying a farm on the continent and it's running 40 pure Normandes. It's an all grass farm (not too typical for the region, most farms grow at least a maize crop due to the lack of rain throughout the summer), and the cows are grazed all year, with a small amount of grass silage fed when needed and no cake.

I'm used to Holsteins, but I can take them or leave them. Do most people cross Normandes with Holsteins?
Please be aware with brexit your rights assuming you to be a british passport holder are changing, without a "carte d sejour", Legal residency, You may soon have no "right to farm", claim subsidy or get bank loans, Please check all this out very carefully, the departmental chambre d agriculture are your best guide in this and GOOD LUCK,
