Crosses,, only be half as bad

As is said a million times over... good and bad in every breed.

I bought 2 tups as an experiment, see how it goes. I liked the lambs last year and they've been a joy this lambing, too. The hoggs look like they've good potential... won't know right til I lamb them but I'm looking forward to it at the moment (y)

they are great looking sheep, ,,this side of the pond there would be a very small gene pool, so that's probably What is wrong over here, I had a lot of ewes crossed with the hill cheviot , cracking sheep, but would totally rule out the pure park type,

Hill type is OK but a little smaller than I was after. I'm using them on pure Lleyns which run on my hill, the Park crosses will run inbye and the strongest looking ones will run on the lowest best ground to Suffolk tups. I wanted the Park to put a bit size into the ewes for this.

If they were to run high or hill, i'd have used the Hill type. But If this doesn't work out, I will try Hill types.

Everyone said Parks don't fatten but I got my lambs away fine considering the year... I also put 1 Park lamb in my freezer - it is exceptional eating so far (y)

There’s definitely an issue in Cheviots with hung lambs. We seem to get most problems in the Cheviots bred pure, then less in the Cheviots put to the Leicester. Then hardly any hung lambs in the Cheviot mules put to the Beltex/Texel.

I find the same. Only had one hung lamb in the cross ewes, she was a 3/4 beltex with her maternal g.dam a Cheviot mule.
