Probably just the weather catching up on the trade! There must be less keep about this year than last ! Wonder what Messrs Kelly will do with 400 gimmers now! Getting late in the year to shift that number !

He wasn't getting a bid, not because they were bad just no one to buy them. A real shame
Tups what I saw seemed similar to last year , anything special went on in to the 2000+, a smart tup with horns made £8000 unless I completely miss heard

That's a surprise. Mind you, 400 at the end of a sale can be a bit much - luck of the ballot I guess.

I hope you miss heard, because the Champion tup only made £2800!! (according to the NCC page on Facebook - no sale report up yet though). If tups were as strong as your saying, I'm glad i went to the Park sale instead (n)

i thought you didn,t like park cheviots . yet you have bought 2. explain please.

I presume this is aimed at me?

When have I ever said I didn't like them? Iv been saying for 2 1/2 years now i had a Park Northie visit me at the end of tupping, and iv been impressed with the lambs...

Would I run a flock of Park type ewes? - no, I'd use the hill type instead. But the job I have, the Park type tups (I hope!) will be better suited.

I m guessing Lockerbie just having a wake up call. Last couple of years there been 2 estates stocking up with northies after selling off the blackies. They were spending huge money to stock new areas. Probably got enough now and the sheep are back at more sensible prices. Last year 5 crop draft ewes making £150!

I don't think that judge will be asked again... Top priced tup was £9000.
Not having a go at you Nithy, but I've never understood with this attitude that we should all agree with the judge. I've seen some judges make bizarre decisions and I've seen the ringside buyers spend big money on some inexplicable stock. We all think differently and it's just as well we do. I wouldn't think any the less of his decision without seeing the evidence for myself.

Myself, I almost never agree with the kind of animals that go on to sell at a huge trade - they're usually not my kind of thing, but other people value them highly , therefore, if I were ever to judge anything, realistically, I'd expect my decision to be "controversial. "

Ie, it wouldn't chime in with those who splash a lot of cash.

It still wouldn't change my mind and I'd still think I was right. :)

£100+.
It was sad to see really. If I had the ground and some more money you could of had a real do

I see the 400 ewes are now for sale for £100 a piece. If it wasn't so far away I'd have a punt, went up to Longtown for cheviots last year and couldn't get close to buying any .

Was anyone at the Dingwall sake today? What was trade like? Esp 91/92 Achvaich

Should of been up but had a load of lambs away. Try to make some before I spend!

Sorry to say @shearerlad but they were cheap and across the board gimmers were dirt cheap. Maybe not top drawer sorts but for the money they were at can't go wrong. James's were very good value and looked in good nick.
