Comparing apples and oranges really
Hill ewes have far lower inputs, lower lambing percentages, but graze on ground that a Texel ewe wouldn’t survive.
My Cheviots are scanning about 145-150% with the good stock ewes doing 180, the poorer ones at 120.

My point was would they do well on lowland as they are a tough sheep on the higher ground

I would think they'll get over fat, would no doubt do the job but they're will be more prolific alternatives. Could get broken mouth ewes and put a tradition blue over them, cheviot mules are making good money and the wedders grade ok. CHM more suited to lowland systems with a terminal over them.

How many years would you expect get out of a broken mouthed Ewe put on lowland? Is it case of a certain number of lambings and cull or just see how far she goes?
