North Oxfordshire Variety Open Evening

Invitation to the HGCA varieties open evening
Thursday 26 June, 6pm‐8pm SGS, Alkerton Oaks Business Park, Stratford Road, Banbury OX15 6EP

HGCA and SGS are teaming up to host a crop variety open evening which includes wheat
and barley varieties from the HGCA Recommended Lists.

At the event, arable growers and agronomists will get to see all recommended and
candidate varieties for spring barley, winter barley and winter wheat.
“With regional markets in mind, the event will focus on soft wheats and milling wheats as
well as feed and malting barley. However, specialists from SGS and HGCA, including Dr
Simon Oxley, will be on hand to answer questions about other varieties and end uses,” says
Richard Laverick HGCA Head of Regional Development.

In addition to the Recommended List trials, visitors can also see crops grown to reflect the
management for local conditions. On top of this, there are also untreated disease
monitoring trials which tell an important story about the underlying disease pressure in the
local area.

Hot food and drinks will served on arrival and plot tours will start promptly at 6:30, 2 BASIS
and 2 NRoSO points are available at this event.
