It’s not bad to be able to do you hobby and do a good turn to help save lives at the same time.

If I lived nearer the coast I’d love to join the RNLI.

Gotta admit, I did wonder about riding, but it needs a bit more dedication than I have I suspect, getting going at 3am and riding 50 miles in February, in freezing rain!! Then back home again... !!

Might look again at taking on a different role for the local Group now I've freed up more time after dropping my role on the local Council.

Neighbour ‘woke up’ in the back of a helicopter while being given the kiss of life. The medic shouted to him “I won’t tell anyone if you don’t!” :D
Doubtful if he’d be here without them.

Couldn’t save the poor bugger thrown out of the other car, overtaking at speed with a phone to his ear...

Every little helps!

Worthy cause..... we`ve done some events for the DLR AA.... you never know when you will need it.
I`ll chuck something in the pot "APD". :)

I done a tandem jump for my 40th...... it was about as exhilarating as you can get.... doing a forward roll out of a Cessna at 15,000 feet or so!!:)

Thank you :) I’d love to do it but don’t think I’m allowed in current state

On our Company 50th Anniversary I gather we raised over £12k over the year split between two charities including our regional Air Ambulance. A different air ambulance once came to the rescue of our Chairman Glyn Baker and he naturally had the charity at the forefront of his mind

It’s a disgrace it’s charity funded and not government funded

See these posts earlier in the thread:

We had a talk at farmers club from northwest air ambulance and they said they’re happy to be a charity rather than government funded. They can choose when they buy new choppers, choose where budget goes etc

Exactly what the Nott's and Linc's Air Ambulance says as well.
If they want to attend an agricultural show, or fundraising event, with the helicopter, they can.

You can say that but the charities do a bloody good job and usually have a collection box in most small shops I go to. Also, it's a charity that most rural people feel close to and support so it does kind of work. Maybe it's better if the govt' aren't involved. Then it would turn to rat sh!t.
It does a very good job I no many people who have been saved by it and it flies over my house most days but it should get funding by the government

I don't know how much dealings you have had with local or national government but once them twatrs get involved it gets really complicated and the main reason is that they open their ears to a small selection of local twatts who need to shut up and then take their views on board at the expense of the majority opinion. No grant ever arrives without strings. I think the only ones which get under the radar are locality funding and community funds from renewables. So you don't want these people involved. Yes, hand over a million or 3 and go back to Westminster but it doesn't work like that. They want photos and sh!t.

I think the Air Ambulance service is a perfect example of a well run, useful service which exists outside of the government and is far better and far more efficient than anything they could provide. Funded by the people, for the people.

Bizarre in a way these comments as flying is regulated by the Government anyway?
