Northern Ireland Milk Price Tracker

trying to revive the ni milk price thread from the other forum which has nearly died, we differ from the rest of the uk in that most of our raw milk is "exported" to ireland and with brexit, europe what this holds for us. also most of our dairy products are exported which leaves us very exposed to world market prices. currently ni milk is between 17 to 18p with must anticipation about an immenant price rises, dairy stock price have increased considerably in recent weeks, how will the 12p scheme influence milk production, replacement dairy stock prices and the price of cull cows

I see the infallible dale farm wanting every litre that can be produced! Who is going to pump milk all winter at or below cost of production?? Just to fill their plant, when you can get 12p for producing nothing.
Do they think we're stupid? Better get the price up quick smart if they want more litres. Arrogant tossers!

i see that we have them now where we want them, squeeling for milk, next they will be at each others throats. some are under the illusion that a dairy can do no wrong,an old boys club, theyre only init for themselves, same as the rest of us

I was thinking of applying for the 12p to produce nothing, then keep producing the same amount and sell it to a United producer cos they're gonna be getting such a brilliant price!

Pocket the 12p pocket the culls and surplus heifers cos they are going to be a great trade and let them whistle for the extra milk.
Producing more milk will not benefit anyone except processors.
I could be wrong but did dobbin not make a statement in the spring saying it was our own fault for producing too much? Or words to that effect?

Do you think that 50k gross is greedy? For running your own business, taking financial risk and putting in anything up to twice the hours of normal salaried people into it?

As Clive once said, if you aren't taking out 50k on average each and every year, and must play farming, then rent your land out and go and play it on a farm like his and take the salary and the rent, the paid holidays and sick leave etc.

The 50K would be already in the Cop, would you not already include all those things in your cop?
Is this how some claim to have such a low cop, they aren't including their own time and efforts.

Yes I believe so. COP seems often to be confused with the momentary cash cost of doing business, where own time, upkeep and replacement of things are not billed in the short term. It's delusional.

Joking aside. Does anyone have any real hope, for a significant price increase (I.e much above 20pence) any time soon? I honestly don't expect it. All the same if it doesn't, it'll be one bloody hard and long winter, (for me anyway).....
